Are you working towards Carbon Neutrality in your city?
We have a fun solution to activate your citizens in taking part in reducing carbon emissions on their daily commute. Our mobile application enables cities (companies & schools) to encourage local people to be part of the solution by actively choosing the most carbon-friendly options.
We believe that it will take a concerted effort of everyone living and working in cities to make achieving carbon neutrality work hence we make it for you to encourage your community for the better of all of us!
Cities and communities work best together when they have a common goal, going carbon neutral is ideally positioned to get everyone involved.
Making it fun with local campaigns and peer-to-peer social accountability is what makes our app work! As a city (or school or company) challenge your people to go for a carbon 0 commute.
It is the small yet frequent things we do, that will have a big impact over time. Commuting in a post lockdown world can be that little change that makes a difference.
We enable cities to build a campaign and reward those that manage to stay at 0 the longest, the most frequent or the ones that encourage the most people to join in the fun.
Personal impact matters and social accountability makes it stick.
How it works
Collective goals require individual action to make any difference at all. Carbon 0 Commute allows each individual to do their bit for the environment and reduce their carbon footprint.
The app works as follows:
- Enter your starting point for your commute
- Enter your end-point for your commute
- Choose your commuting method and it’s
- Challenge a friend, family member or colleague or work as a team to see who is the first to reach 100 days at carbon 0 and how you are all contributing to a cleaner environment in your city.
- Repeat it daily and keep challenging others to join in.
On the first download of our app, the commuter will set their important commuter places such as home, work and school. Then they select their most frequent commuter method and time. It is all saved in the app so that all you have to do the next time is press the button ‘track my trip’ where your start and end-point are preset. All that is left to do is to challenge a friend to see who can stay at 0 the longest. The lower the score the more you are contributing to carbon neutrality in your city.
Carbon 0 champions should be celebrated! Encourage companies, schools, clubs and communities to battle it out for the top spot at Carbon 0.
Individuals choose whether they show up on a leaderboard or not. We know it is more fun to play together.
We can create company, school or community club leaderboards on request.
Whilst it can be fun to show a competitive spirit, personal achievement and beating your personal best is also rewarding.
Bonus rewards show up for consistency as well as unbroken records.
Cities can add specific rewards that could be worth a real-life prize too. Obviously, a real-life prize is totally optional, but we know from experience that it can contribute that little bit of extra motivation to get started.
Customised for your city
Each participating city will have its own web-based administration panel to add your own logo, city data feeds, transport methods, upload relevant transport company brands, etc. You can also add some questions in relation to commuting, such as for example: “did you arrive on time?”, “did you feel COVID-safe?” etc.
The additional rich data will be available in your reports and are fully on an opt-in basis only for your citizens. Learn more about your people whilst they are doing their bit for your city climate.

SCIFI pilot in Bruges, Belgium
Carbon 0 commute is part of the Smart City Innovation Accelerator and currently running a pilot project in this scheme for the city of Bruges in Belgium.
Stad Brugge has their own tailored version of our application and once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted will hopefully be putting it through a reality test with it’s citizens.
